A missing woman has been reunited with her family through a district programme in Odisha, India, following continuing care and efforts to trace her relatives. Devi, who was 48 when police found her, returned to her family through Jharsuguda's Snehasetu programme, according to a report published on October 26.
Town police found her wandering near Beheramal on May 22 and took her to Mission Ashra-1 at H. Katapali. She had mental-health difficulties and received treatment, personal care and rehabilitation. The centre provided continuing medical treatment and emotional support, and her condition improved gradually. Social Security Department officers worked with Jharkhand's police control room and local police stations to locate her family.
Her daughter and other relatives travelled to Jharsuguda to bring her home after receiving the news. District Collector Kunal Motiram Chavan met the family at the handover. The family thanked the administration, police and care staff for helping their mother return safely.
