Canadian aviation training and simulation company CAE has agreed to sell its Flightscape airline-operations software business to aviation technology company SITA. The Montreal-based company announced the definitive agreement on October 26, with an enterprise value of $500 million, subject to customary adjustments. Completion is expected in the first half of 2027, pending regulatory approvals and other closing conditions.
Flightscape serves airlines and airports worldwide. It will continue operating as usual until closing, maintaining service, support and product development. CAE chief executive Matthew Bromberg said the sale would sharpen the company's focus on its core Civil and Defense businesses. CAE intends to use proceeds for priorities including simulation and training investment and shareholder returns, while retaining financial flexibility.
SITA chief executive David Lavorel said combining the two businesses' capabilities would help airlines make use of their aircraft, crews and infrastructure, while also improving their ability to respond when operations are disrupted.
