Panasonic Heating & Cooling Europe and German football club Borussia Dortmund have announced an official partnership to develop heating and cooling projects at club facilities. The company statement, issued in Wiesbaden, Germany, on October 23, says the partnership is planned to cover five seasons through 2031. Dortmund is also known as BVB.
Panasonic is to contribute expertise in energy-efficient heating, air conditioning and cooling. The partners plan pilot projects at several BVB facilities using heat pumps, air-conditioning and cooling systems, with the aim of modernising club infrastructure. Panasonic Holdings Corporation, the parent group, has its headquarters in Kadoma, Osaka, Japan.
José Manuel Alves, Panasonic's heating and cooling regional director for Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the UK and Ireland, said the technology was intended to support more sustainable infrastructure and the club's decarbonisation targets. Benedikt Scholz, BVB's director responsible for internationalisation and commercial partnerships, said the partners shared ambitions and would use innovative technology to support infrastructure development.
