The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, the government health authority in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, and health technology company ŌURA announced Project CRADLE on 21 October at the Abu Dhabi Future Health Summit. The 24-month pilot study will investigate whether continuous biometric measurements can identify earlier warning signs of spontaneous premature birth.
The partners plan to combine measurements from the Oura Ring wearable smart ring with clinical and genomic information. Corniche Hospital and Mediclinic Airport Road in Abu Dhabi are the planned initial participating hospitals. Preterm birth means birth before 37 completed weeks of pregnancy. This pilot has not established an ability to predict it.
Project CRADLE is the first active study under a partnership announced in May 2026. The partners report ethics approvals, clinical oversight and data governance for the research. They propose broader integration into Abu Dhabi healthcare only with supporting evidence and regulatory approval.
