Javi, a newly adopted rescue puppy, reached television presenters Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos’s home in New York City, United States, on 20 October after a health issue delayed his arrival. Pet ResQ Inc., a nonprofit animal rescue organization in New Jersey, arranged his adoption and journey. Its video showed his car trip into the city and the couple holding him outside their home.
The couple first met the puppy on their daytime television programme on 12 October, when Consuelos held him during the opening conversation. Afterwards, they brought their older dog Lena to the set to meet him. Ripa shared a photo of Lena meeting Javi again after his arrival, and another of Consuelos holding him.
On 13 October, the presenters confirmed they had begun the adoption process, with medical checks pending. Consuelos said on 18 October that the puppy had a parasite and was receiving treatment, delaying his move. Originally called Lucas, the puppy was named Javi, short for Javier, in their homecoming posts after the couple considered both names.
