Ducks share cuddles and shelter with Monica and Dima Abramov's family in South Florida, in the United States. Monica says Buddy, a Muscovy duck, seeks out Dima, and the two cuddle together. Dima has provided an umbrella for shade and a small pool for the ducks, which visit the garage during heavy rain.
Another visitor, a wild mother duck named Moira, kept sitting on an empty nest after her only duckling disappeared. The couple obtained fertilized eggs, and Moira hatched Miri after 34 days. Miri's name comes from Miracle. Nearly six weeks after the hatching, Monica says the mother and duckling are doing well.
Monica greets the ducks every morning before work. The couple's 5-year-old son, Noah, has held Buddy and Minnie when they were young. Four white Pekin ducks also live with the family after Moira rejected them as adopted ducklings. The family's dog, Maggie, is kept apart from the ducks.
