French tourist Gabriel returned to Vietnam in October 2026, two years after a family holiday when street karaoke helped him make friends in Ho Chi Minh City. Now 20, he said that encounter contributed to his return. He had spoken no Vietnamese, but wanted to meet people while his parents preferred quieter activities.
His second trip began in Hanoi with his German friend Marie. They mixed daytime visits to monuments with pho, banh mi and evening socialising. Their plans included a bus journey to Sa Pa for three days, followed by Ninh Binh. Gabriel enjoyed being able to try a variety of activities.
For Irene and Ian, a couple living in Australia, October brought a fourth Vietnam visit with their three children. Their holiday started in Hanoi. The adults were interested in history, temples and older architecture, while zoos and aquariums offered activities for the children. Earlier journeys had taken the family to Ho Chi Minh City and Nha Trang.
