A technology conclave in Varanasi, India, brought together government representatives, academics, healthcare professionals and startups to discuss artificial intelligence in healthcare and assistive technologies. Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) organized the event with IIT BHU's Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship.
Keynote speaker S. Krishnan, secretary of India's Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, called for AI education across academic disciplines. He urged medical science, technology and research to work together on practical tools, identifying communities with limited access to healthcare as potential beneficiaries. STPI operates under his ministry.
Two panel discussions examined healthcare inclusion and how to turn AI research into practical applications. Topics included disease screening, diagnostics, remote intensive-care monitoring and surgical planning. STPI director general Arvind Kumar emphasized developing usable products and intellectual property, helping innovators reach markets and building stronger startup networks beyond established technology centres.
