Bento, ready-to-eat boxed meals sold for takeout, brought reporter Seiji Nakazawa to Sandaime Kacchan in Osaka. He had heard about its unusually inexpensive meals and bought the cheapest box. The shop is in the Kyobashi Chuo Shopping District, also known as Rib Street, roughly five minutes' walk north of the JR and Keihan Kyobashi stations.
A menu outside showed the choices before he entered. Inside, the cheapest boxes stood on the left, with more expensive meals farther right. Options included pork fillet cutlet and grilled fish. The largest hamburger-steak set came with two fried shrimp.
Nakazawa described his box as small and visually plain. It contained rice, pork and green peppers in a dish called chinjao rosu, macaroni salad and pink pickled radish. He found the pork dish sweet and savoury with a spicy edge, exceeding his expectations. Some customers paired this box with a pork-fillet-cutlet bento.
