French traveller Gabriel made friends through street karaoke in Ho Chi Minh City during a family holiday two years before his October 2026 return. That encounter helped bring him back, this time with his German friend Marie. Starting in Hanoi, they mixed monuments, pho and banh mi with evening socializing. They planned three days in Sa Pa, followed by Ninh Binh.
Irene and Ian, who live in Australia, had visited Vietnam four times, taking their three children on every trip. Their October holiday began in Hanoi. History, temples and architecture interested the adults, while zoos and aquariums offered activities for the children. Ian also described motorcycles entering pedestrian spaces and vehicles travelling against one-way traffic.
Filipino teacher Camille Agsunod arrived in July 2026 and taught at a private school in Hanoi. Work was an important reason for remaining. She also enjoyed local meals, exploring the city and meeting residents. She valued everyday kindness and local traditions, describing Hanoi as increasingly familiar.
