A black kitten named Bradley Cooper recovered after intensive veterinary treatment at a pet adoption centre in Salt Lake City, Utah, and care in a foster home. Best Friends Animal Society said an acquaintance of the foster volunteers adopted him together with his larger littermate, a calico kitten named Jennifer Lawrence.
Bradley had arrived from a shelter several hours away. He was initially unresponsive, underweight and dehydrated, with dangerously low body temperature and blood sugar. Veterinary staff placed him in an incubator to warm him, gave him intravenous fluids and medication, and fed him with a syringe. He later began eating without assistance.
He then joined Jennifer in a foster home, where his recovery continued and the two kittens wrestled and played together. Fading kitten syndrome describes newborn kittens that fail to thrive without an obvious cause, according to the animal society. Even when they receive treatment, kittens with the condition may not survive.
