Porsche, the sports-car manufacturer based in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen, Germany, unveiled its Mission S concept super sports car in Queens, New York City, on October 15. The company said the concept uses a mid-engine layout. Porsche plans to position the model above its existing 911 range and make it a permanent addition to the line-up, rather than produce it as a one-off vehicle.
Inside the Mission S, Porsche has placed five round instruments behind the steering wheel. The company said the interior combines physical buttons and switches with digital displays. Its arrangement includes neither a permanently integrated central display nor a fixed display for the passenger.
For navigation and the display of information, the concept instead has a retractable smartphone mount that is compatible with MagSafe, Porsche said. The exterior also draws on the company’s earlier cars: its design incorporates features from the 911, 959, GT1, 917 and 928 models, according to the manufacturer.
