Turtle, Kelly Moore’s cat in Byram, Greenwich, Connecticut, returned home on the night of October 10 after 571 days missing. He had slipped through a storm door that was not fully closed on March 18, 2025. Moore’s daughter Shelby had originally adopted him in Tennessee. After his return, Moore said, Turtle purred.
Rocco Autero of Rocket Lost Pet Rescue helped with the search. Trail cameras initially recorded Turtle returning near Moore’s home at night. On October 6, Autero noticed a social media report of a grey, long-haired cat in Mamaroneck, New York. A woman there had been feeding the cat for about a month. Autero scanned his microchip on October 9 and confirmed that he was Turtle.
On October 10, Shelby picked Turtle up while he was feeding. Kelly opened the carrier, and Shelby lowered him inside. At home, he was staying in one room and being let out daily to adjust.
