Anthropic, the developer of the Claude AI model, opened an office at Raffles Place in Singapore on 14 October 2026. The opening followed a memorandum on AI cooperation signed with Singapore the previous day, alongside Singapore International Cyber Week. Anthropic co-founder Benjamin Mann and Chng Kai Fong, permanent secretary of the Ministry of Digital Development and Information, signed the agreement.
The memorandum covers AI safety and security, model evaluation, responsible adoption, adoption impacts and incident response. Mann identified safety evaluation as a significant area of cooperation. He said new models need assessment to understand their capabilities, risks and benefits. Anthropic joined an evaluation sandbox run by IMDA and the AI Verify Foundation in 2023.
At the time of reporting, Anthropic listed 12 Singapore vacancies, including finance and sales roles. It did not disclose local staff numbers or hiring targets. ASEAN general manager Dale Finlay said the focus was expanding the team serving existing customers.
