Peggy-Sue the bulldog lives with her owners, Emmie and Andy, in Taunton and now enjoys walks and car rides, according to Emmie. She also splashes in rock pools and streams and shares the couple's home with another dog, Mr Woo. Emmie said Peggy-Sue was their sixth rescue dog. The couple had been looking for a companion for Mr Woo.
She arrived at West Hatch Animal Centre in Somerset in July 2025, weighing 32.5kg. Anita Clark said staff initially moved her to the kennel in a crate. Her foster carer gradually increased her exercise, and Peggy-Sue lost five kilograms before moving in with Emmie and Andy during the 2025 Adoptober adoption campaign.
Her owners continued the diet and exercise routine after Peggy-Sue joined their home. Her reported current weight is 23.5kg, compared with the 32.5kg recorded when she entered the centre. Emmie said her strength developed gradually, starting with short bursts of activity.
