Brazil is using digital enforcement tools following its ban on online betting. The government said it had requested blocks on 13,241 illegal gambling websites since September 25. It also asked for the removal of related pages and social-media profiles, aiming to limit access across several kinds of online service.
The measures extend beyond a single website list. Officials described requests covering channels, groups and other digital content connected with illegal gambling. According to the finance minister, the targeted collection had reached more than 17 million users. The case shows how authorities combine website blocking with action on platforms where gambling content is promoted.
At the same time, companies must arrange refunds of money left in users’ accounts. Officials said the remaining balances were heavily concentrated among a small share of bettors. The government also plans to examine unusually large balances for possible money laundering. Blocking access, returning funds and investigating suspicious accounts are proceeding together.
